I hate my photos

I am beginning to seriously hate all my photos...
Why?  This is what I figured out so far.

1.  Flat.  My photos are so flat.  There are no depths nor any richness of real color to my photos.  It makes me sad.

2.  Composition is pretty boring and too busy.  Sticking to your style is very important but what if does not satisfy you.  What are you to do then?

3.  I'm sick of all these photos with garbage layers.  Layer after layers...  like the photo of my previous photo of Choco + Comet.  I liked the whole process of taking the photo.  It was manual focus, f/1.4, ISO 1600.

So I'm holding off on buying my 5D Mark II at the moment.  What is the point of buying an expensive camera when I'm not happy with my photos.  Maybe I'm going through a big revolution.  I'm wondering why I'm like this!

because you are an artist and you want to perfect your work. if you were always content you would ultimately suck and be full of it hehe. =) but i think you have beautiful work and your imagery is soft and crisp to. the notion is to have a bit of yourself in each photo. perhaps you need to get to a workshop of a photographer you admire. what i think you need is inspiration. but like tony said, i think its a phase. i feel that way about a lot of my work pretty often to be honest but its a part of being an artist. so you realize you dont like what you see and you're going to do something about it. =)

Being overly critical of my own work is the biggest reason I ever get any better. I think that NOT feeling like this every once in a while is a quick way to suck for the rest of your life. Now that you've raised the bar for yourself, all you have to do is consciously think of those issues you listed above, BEFORE you click each picture instead of realizing them after.

And yes, a workshop (or a plain 'ol GTG!) might be in order...

we all go through it :) this is what makes us better. no one is ever completely happy with their photos.. if they are, they're full of it because you can always find something you can improve on. Keep on shooting .

well I like your photos, so there =P.

You can look back and see how your photos evolved, then you can appreciate how much you've grown. We always have something more to learn, but that's something we figure out over time through trial and error. Ahhh, the beauty of photography :).
